How to disable a tracker
This guide applies to the TOR DOT and its integration with Google’s Find My Device network.
Disabling the TOR DOT will stop it from sharing its location. Once disabled, it will no longer report to the Find My Device network, and the registered owner will not receive location updates.
⚠️ If you receive a notification about a TOR DOT detected near you and don’t recognize the device, you can tap on the system notification to make the DOT ring. After locating the item, you may follow the steps below to disable it.
Method 1: Disable Using the Button
1. Locate the center depression-style button on the TOR DOT.
2. Press and hold the button for approximately 30 seconds.
3. The device will emit beeps at 1-second intervals.
4. Release the button after the 10th beep.
5. A confirmation sound will play, indicating that the DOT has been successfully disabled.
Method 2: Disable by Removing the Battery
1. Insert a fingernail or small tool along the side center seam of the TOR DOT.
2. Gently pry open the casing.
3. Remove the battery (CR2032 coin cell).
4. Close the DOT by aligning the notches on both halves and pressing firmly.
How to re-enable the tracker
Option 1: Using the Button
1. Press the center button once.
2. The device will emit a confirmation sound, signaling it’s active again.
Option 2: Reinserting the Battery
1. Open the device carefully using a fingernail or small tool.
2. Insert a CR2032 coin battery with the positive side facing up (as marked inside the casing).
3. Close the device by aligning the top notches and pressing the halves together.
